- Pupils receive 18 hours tuition (27 lessons) during the year.
- The yearly charge of €850 is the fee per instrument.
Lessons
- Lessons are mostly taught during school hours and every effort is made to reduce disruption to academic work. Some teachers may be able to offer lessons before or after school, but this cannot be guaranteed and depends on the individual teacher.
- Pupils are excused for one 40-minute lesson per week on a rotational basis.
- Notice of each lesson is given in advance by way of a posted timetable on the music notice board. This timetable is shared weekly on Microsoft Teams App. Pupils are REQUIRED to check their lesson time each week.
- Lessons missed by the student will not be made up and will be charged for.
- If an instrumental teacher is absent from the school, they will reschedule their lesson with the student.
- Classroom teachers are notified of the student’s absence from class through the VSWare system.
- Our teachers make every effort to be as flexible as possible. Students can communicate with the teachers through Microsoft Teams App to make a request to reschedule. All messages to and from teachers and students should be within working hours where possible.
Cancellation of Lessons
- Cancellation must be given in writing to the Music Department at music@bgsmail.ie at least six weeks in advance. Fees are payable in full during this six-week period.
Multiple Applications
- To apply for more than one instrument, you must fill out a new application form for each instrument.
Insurance
- The school does not insure privately owned instruments. Parents are strongly advised to make sure that they have adequate insurance cover.
- The school does not accept responsibility for instruments damaged or stolen.
